Cathedrals will fall, the river will run red... and THE BIRD will be SLAUGHTERED!

Director Melanie Light – WiHM

Women In Horror Month 2016

We’re asking our favorite Horror Icons three specific questions:
Why Film? What’s been their favorite project to-date? And what we’ll be looking forward to next…

Director Melanie Light.

If you’ve not heard of our current Featured Filmmaker, we’re just going to say it: You’ve been living under a rock, and we’re not sure you’re a true Horror fan. Her latest success THE HERD (feat. Pollyanna McIntosh, written by Ed Pope) has been heralded as the “first feminist vegan horror film,” and described by Exquisite Terror as “ethical horror.” Finally. The logically-evolved combination is breathtaking and beautiful. She recently returned from working on LEGENDS (Sean Bean), all the while racking up an impressive list of awards:

Best Short film THE HERD - Festival Boca do Inferno 2 (Brazil ) Nov 2015
Best Cinematography THE HERD - Bart Sienkiewicz - British Horror Film Festival ( UK) Nov 2015
Best Short Horror Film THE HERD - Celluloid Screams ( UK ) Oct 2015
Best Foreign Short film THE HERD - Russian Annual Horror Film Awards (Russia ) Jan 2015
Best Horror Short THE HERD - London Independent Film Festival (UK) April 2015
Best Horror /Sci Fi THE HERD - Sunderland Shorts (UK) July 2015

Get to know a bit more about the powerhouse changing the face of Horror as we know it:

Melanie Light's The Herd

SB: Why film?

ML: Honestly, out of all the creative roles I have attempted to make a career of, it seems film is what I think I’m not that bad at. I also love watching films and TV, as well as working on other people’s projects, even more so than my own. It’s a great feeling. Creating and telling stories through film is hard work, but so satisfying.

“You are a product.”

- The Herd

SB: Your favorite project to-date?

ML: Personal project to date is my last short film ‘The Herd‘ but at the moment it is sliding towards ‘Covetous‘ which is in development stages.

Melanie Light's Covetous

SB: What’s next on the horizon?

ML:Covetous‘ which would be my debut feature film which is written by me and to be directed by me. I’m currently trying to find funding and a Producer which is the most stressful and depressing part of filmmaking, if you ask me.

INTERVIEW: Uwe Boll
uwebolljpg-64b556_1280w Director Uwe Boll shouldn’t need much of an introduction to film fans. Quite the controversial figure, it seems if he’s not making films that divide opinion, he’s pissing off the people that are. I was privileged enough to speak to Uwe recently and, well, I’ll let you decide if he’s the contentious character you may think he is… Read on...
